Scutely FAQ: Common Questions Answered

General

What animals does Scutely support?

Reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates: snakes, lizards, geckos, turtles and tortoises, frogs and salamanders, tarantulas, scorpions, and more. Scutely supports hundreds of species, and if yours isn’t listed you can request it through the HerpDex.

Is Scutely free?

Yes. The free plan includes the core app for up to 5 animals: full care logging, breeding, clutches, the QR scanner, and HerpDex access. Paid plans raise your animal limit and unlock more. See Plans & tiers.

What platforms is Scutely on?

iOS and Android. A full web app is on the way. See Web app.

I keep snakes, not spiders — do I have to look at spider icons?

No. Arachnophobia mode replaces spider and scorpion icons throughout the app with snake and lizard ones. Turn it on in Settings → App Appearance. See Appearance & app settings.

Plans & billing

What happens if I downgrade or my subscription runs out?

Nothing is deleted. If you end up over your new plan’s animal limit, the extra animals are locked rather than removed. Your earliest animals stay accessible up to the limit, and the rest become read-only until you resubscribe or upgrade.

Is there an annual discount?

Yes. Annual billing saves about 20% over monthly, which works out to roughly two and a half months free.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period. Manage or cancel through the app store you subscribed with (Apple or Google). See Managing your subscription.

Account & data

How do I delete my account?

From Settings, use the account deletion option (you’ll re-authenticate to confirm). See Deleting your account. Cancel any store subscription separately first.

What happens to inactive accounts?

Accounts unused for around five years may be permanently deleted along with their data. Signing in occasionally keeps yours active.

Is my data backed up?

Your data is stored in the cloud and tied to your account, so it’s there when you sign in.

Breeding

Can I track multiple breeding groups?

Yes. Create as many as you need, each with its own events and clutches. See Breeding groups & events.

Does the genetic calculator support multi-gene crosses?

Yes, it handles multi-gene combinations. See Genetic calculator.
